One of my favorite stories is that the actor who played Dumbledore commented on how well trained the bird who played Fawkes the phoenix was. The twist? Fawkes was just an incredible animatronic. Also the basilisk is all practical, as well as the spiders. That movie's effects are amazing.

Please review Memories of Alhambra (Netflix show made by koreans) for VFX. It has many different effects, some easy, but some are hard to imagine for TV series. Also, you will like the movies itself for intensity, screenplay, idea, etc... Highly recommended!

There is a great little bit of camera wizardry that you wouldn’t expect in the Twilight Zone. The episode is Long Live Walter Jameson. The title character ages 20 years on camera. All this is before the age of computers. It’s such a subtle effect, but it works really well.
